Rail Security Services

Meteor Security undertook the rail security project in June 2004 and has since been successful in providing rail security and revenue protection services, surpassing our clients' expectations.

Rail Security Officers as an example are responsible for:-

  • Minimising fare evasion
  • The safety and welfare of passengers
  • Comply with railway cash regulations and other laid down procedures
  • Carry out customer count and surveys to measure ticketless travel and revenue at risk
  • Act as an authorised collector within the railways Penalty Fare Scheme and issue Penalty Fare Notices as necessary
  • Issue travel tickets and excess fare tickets to customers not liable to be issued with a Penalty Pare
  • Act within the guidelines contained in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (1984)
  • Interviewing of suspects
  • Submit reports
  • Attend Court
  • Deal with antisocial behaviour on trains and at stations
  • Respond to customer inquiries and in times of disruption, ensure the customer needs are placed first
  • Work as directed by Supervisor, Rail Revenue and the Rail Manager
